Weave your way into Narrative Threads and Homespun

Taking place in the exhibition gallery, Narrative Threads explores place, history and identity through textiles, jewellery, installation art and photography, alongside artefacts and tools.

The exhibition features artwork by Wendy Lugg, who has lived a lifetime in Western Australia, and invited artists Helena Bogucki, Trish Little, Elisa Markes-Young and Janie Matthews.

The themes being explored by the artists closely align with the history of Wanneroo, with strong elements of migration, maintaining cultural and domestic traditions, adjusting to new landscapes and creatively using and repurposing available resources.

Running concurrently in the conference room is Homespun: The Fabric of Family.

Weaving significant stories and objects from Wanneroo’s past, this showcase takes you on a journey through the history of sewing.

From wedding dresses and christening gowns, to antique sewing machines and retro paper patterns, favourites from the Wanneroo Museum collection show family life in times gone by.

Come and be entwined in Wanneroo’s fascinating heritage of cloth and stitch.

Both exhibitions are on display from 30 June to 11 August.
