Community groups and commercial organisations in Maroondah are invited to lodge an expression of interest application to be part of the 2018 Maroondah Festival, which will be held on Sunday 11 November at Town Park, Croydon.
Mayor of Maroondah, Councillor Nora Lamont said that Maroondah Festival provides a wonderful opportunity for businesses and community groups to showcase their offerings to the local community in a positive and relaxed setting.
“The Maroondah Festival is one of the most popular events on the annual Maroondah calendar. This is probably because our local community enjoys getting together and having fun, to celebrate what’s great about living in our green and leafy city,” said Cr Lamont.
“There’s a great sense of community spirit in Maroondah, so we are inviting Maroondah businesses and community organisations to tap into that by hosting a site. This could be a food van, a display, a stage performance, or running a workshop or activity, or being part of one of the expo-style events at Festival. This is a great opportunity to show the community what your organisation is all about,” said Cr Lamont.
“Community groups can also apply for funding towards putting on a fun and interactive activity at Festival via the Maroondah Festival Interactive Grants Program. These may be craft workshops, ‘come and try’ sports activities, guest speakers or music-based activities – anything that will attract visitors on the day,” said Cr Lamont.
“Community groups that meet the selection criteria can apply for up to $500 in funding support as part of the grants program,” said Cr Lamont.
“Those interested in being part of the Maroondah Festival must have their expression of interest form lodged with Council by Monday 16 July. Grant applications are due by Friday 17 August,” said Cr Lamont.
