Bookings are now open for the Term 3 program of arts and lifestyle courses at Wyreena Community Arts Centre, which run between July and September 2018.

Wyreena’s programs include something for adults and children of all abilities who wish to either learn a new arts-based skill, expand their existing arts practice, or enhance their physical and mental wellbeing through Pilates or yoga.

There are nine-week courses covering drawing, painting, pottery, mosaics, yoga, Pilates and more, as well as one-day maker’s workshops, one-day programs for adults with special needs, and age-streamed children’s arts program conveniently held after school hours.

There are several new courses at Wyreena this term, starting with a mixed media art course for children aged 11 and over, where their creativity can run wild. The program focuses on creating artworks using a variety of techniques such as painting, collage, printing, drawing, stamping, and image transfer.

Also new this term, is a Print Making course for adults, where you can learn the basics of mono printing using a Gel Press. Or, get in early, and learn how to make your own Christmas Stocking, in a very festive course for adults.

For those looking to experience the mindfulness that comes with yoga, there are two new adult yoga programs – Slow Flow Yoga, which is aimed at those who prefer a less vigorous yoga practice, whether due to age or injury, and Yin/Restore Yoga, which combines the yin approach of focusing on the body’s deep connective tissues and restorative yoga, which focuses on resting the body and calming the mind.

Plus, there are an exciting range of one-day maker’s workshops this term, spanning macramé, basket weaving, pastels and a yoga retreat.

So, download a brochure and look for something new to try, whether as a way to let out your creative side, learn a new skill, enhance an existing skill, improve your physical and mental wellbeing, or even make some new friends.
