Ten Gigabit Adelaide reaches over 1000 building registrations ahead of schedule

Ten Gigabit Adelaide has reached an exciting and significant milestone with well over 1000 buildings now registered for the revolutionary high-speed, high-performance fibre optic data network.

The City of Adelaide and network partner TPG Telecom’s target to sign up the first 1000 buildings was reached in just nine weeks, months ahead of schedule.

With website registrations now closed, the next steps are for Council and TPG Telecom to select the 1000 buildings that will be connected to the network and contact all building owners.

The masterplan for the Ten Gigabit Adelaide network roll out is now being finalised and a delivery schedule is being developed.

Lord Mayor Martin Haese said that Ten Gigabit Adelaide’s momentum was continuing to build and that reaching the 1000 buildings was an important milestone in the network’s roll out.

“We are leading the nation with the development of this network and the short amount of time it has taken to sign up the first 1000 buildings is remarkable,” said the Lord Mayor.

“What’s also exciting is that the business community has truly embraced Ten Gigabit Adelaide and is helping Council sell the network’s benefits here, interstate and across the globe.

“Commercial real estate giant Knight Frank recently revealed its Adelaide office was constantly being asked about the network by potential investors when it was presenting interstate and in cities like Hong Kong and Singapore.

“Following its recent purchase of the Planet Nightclub site, Cbus Property said Ten Gigabit Adelaide was one of the reasons it chose to invest in Adelaide, which is just excellent to hear.”

TPG Telecom’s Group Executive of Corporate, Government and Wholesale Mark Rafferty said it was an outstanding result to reach the target so quickly.

“The response from businesses and building owners has been extraordinary,” said Mr Rafferty.

“TPG are now looking forward to offering ground-breaking services to Adelaide businesses in the very near future.”

Further to the 1000 buildings registered, more than 500 businesses have registered their intent to join Ten Gigabit Adelaide when the network is deployed.
