Age Friendly Benalla ‘mini grants’ available

Published on 27 June 2018

The Age Friendly Benalla project, funded by the Department of Health and Human Services, aims to develop Benalla and its surrounding rural communities as a more age friendly place to live. Age friendly communities offer older people (55+) the opportunity to live active and fulfilling lives, enjoy good physical and mental health and feel valued as members of the community.

A community based committee comprising a diverse mix of older people is driving the project. The committee is developing initiatives to raise community awareness of positive ageing and to build the capacity of older people to make Benalla more age friendly.

The Age Friendly Benalla Project has $10,000 available to support community events and information sessions across Benalla Rural City. Funding of $500-$1,000 per event is available.

These funds can cover guest speakers, venue hire, catering, publicity, travel costs for participants and other relevant costs.

Expressions of Interest (EOI) are being sought for events and initiatives that

raise awareness of positive ageing; increase access to social activities in rural areas and the township of Benalla; or provide information about local resources to support Age Friendly Benalla.

Download the EOI form(PDF, 526KB) or collect a hardcopy from the Council’s Customer Service Centre, or from Cooinda reception at 1 Kilfeera Road, Benalla.

EOIs need to be submitted to the Project Coordinator, Age Friendly Benalla, 56 Samaria Road, Benalla or email [email protected] by 31 July 2018.
