MEDIA RELEASE 29 June 2018
A community stories day for the new Bathurst Rail Museum will be held on Saturday, 7 July from 10.00am to 2.00pm at the Bathurst Railway Institute Building in Havannah Street.
The day will provide an opportunity to see the historical Railway Institute Building before work commences on the new museum. It will also provide an opportunity for the community to provide their stories.
Mayor Graeme Hanger OAM said the new Bathurst Rail Museum will be a modern and innovative facility that inspires, engages and challenges visitors.
“The community stories day is about capturing the stories and the memories that our community have of the Railway Institute Building and the social history of rail in Bathurst,” he said.
The content developers for the new Bathurst Rail Museum, Freeman Ryan Design, will be on site to gather stories and learn about objects and images that people may have. No objects will be collected on the day.
The architects from Integrated Design Group, will also be present to answer questions about the Rail Museum project.
Please note that the building has not been renovated and therefore disabled access is limited.
