Glenn A. Baker hosts two nights of 1960's music & nostalgia at Blue Mountains Theatre
Blue Mountains 28 Jun 2018

In a special Blue Mountains Theatre presentation, the legendary Glenn A. Baker AM will grace the stage to host two unforgettable evenings of nostalgia and exceptional music.

On Friday 27 July, acclaimed Sydney band Tijuana Taxi will deliver a delightful homage to the music of Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass.

Tijuana Taxi is a dapper 8-piece ensemble – with real marimba! - that evokes the mood and music of the sixties, faithfully recreating 21 classics hits of Herb Alpert’s unique, upbeat and melodic ensemble, including ‘Spanish Flea’, ‘Tijuana Taxi’, ‘The Lonely Bull’ and ‘A Taste Of Honey’.

Led by renowned bassist Tina Harris, Tijuana Taxi is itself a who’s who of Sydney’s finest Latin and jazz musicians and this show has sold out several times now at Sydney’s acclaimed Camelot Lounge.

Striking chords of deep nostalgia for baby boomers as well as intriguing and delighting kitsch-loving younger folks, this is music that spans all generations and is guaranteed to have you dancing.

On Friday 14 September, the Nancy & Lee Experience will take the audience on a riotous journey through the classic hits of the 1960s pop music’s quirkiest duo – Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood.

A beauty and the beast pairing, their popular success confounded critics while creating some of the 1960s America’s most iconic pop.  Their eponymous 1968 album Nancy & Lee spawned some of the duo’s best songs and inspired generations of musicians.

Fronted by renowned stage, film and television actor Zoe Carides and Scott Holmes, the Nancy Boys re-imagine the Sixties through the eyes of the iconic and culty Nancy & Lee.  Expect classics such as ‘These Boots Are Made For Walking’, ‘Jackson’, ‘Summer Wine’, ‘You Only Live Twice’, ‘Something Stupid’, the trippy ‘Some Velvet Morning’ and many more fabulous solos and duets.

Glenn A. Baker is renowned for his encyclopaedic knowledge of rock music. Described by Rolling Stone magazine Music Editor David Fricke, as: “Not just Australia’s top pop scholar but a world class rock journalist who writes with the enthusiasm of a true fan”. Glenn A. Baker is a three-time winner of the BBC’s Rock Brain of The Universe title and an author of 17 books
