The Whitsunday Regional Council are excited to announce the restoration of Bowen Administration Centre and Council Chambers.

The façade of the Administration building will be resorted back to the original heritage look, while gaining a new and upgraded energy efficient air-conditioning system and lighting installation.

The insurance works will also include internal structural repairs, asbestos treatment, floor coverings and internal and external painting.

The work is expected to take approximately 12 – 16 weeks to complete. On Friday, prior to commencement of work, the majority of Bowen Council staff will be relocated to the Bowen TAFE building.

Customer service will remain in the Bowen Administration building until approximately 4-5 weeks into the project.

After this time, public can still be greeted and assisted by Council’s friendly Customer Service team at the public Library next door. For public convenience, the team will be equipped with the facilities to take ‘over the counter payments’.

Customers are reminded that the temporary staff office space at Bowen TAFE is not a Customer Service Centre and is not equipped to take payments or perform other Customer Service functions.

Council would like to encourage customers to pre-arrange appointments with officers via phone to ensure the officer is available.

Bowen scheduled Council meetings will be held at the recently renovated Bowen PCYC building. Council meeting dates and locations can be found on Council’s website.

Council will keep the public notified of any further changes.
