Award-winning author and performing artist, Chris Collin (aka the Funky Chicken) is coming to the Whitsunday Regional Libraries in the July School Holidays!
Chris said he’s so excited to be touring with his fun and funky, literacy-based shows and creative rhyme workshops.
“My simple philosophy is to make reading fun, and I can’t wait to visit schools, libraries, early learning centres, community groups and literacy events around the country,” he said.
Chris’ first book Funky Chicken: A Bushy Tale of Crocs and Chooks has sold over 20,000 copies and was short-listed for the 2014 Speech Pathology Australia book of the year.
His latest title Funky Chicken: Chooks in Space was voted winner of the Speech Pathology Australia book of the awards in 2016.
Chris is coming to present his book ‘A Bug Called Doug’ to 0 to 8-year old children across the Whitsunday Region.
Whitsunday children can meet and interact directly with puppet Doug the Bug, sing and dance to the Doug the Bug song and even make your own bug with recycled materials!
This free event will be held at four locations as follows:
Proserpine Library: Tuesday 3 July, 10:30 to 11:30 am Cannonvale Library: Wednesday 4 July, 10:30 to 11:30 am Bowen Library: Thursday 5 July ,10:30 to 11:30 am Collinsville Community Centre: Thursday 5 July, 1:30 to 2:30 pm
With the help of his puppet friends, Chris presents to thousands of children and adults around the country and internationally every year. He is deeply committed to making a contribution to children’s literature by creating stories and experiences that encourage children (and their adults) to read for the joy of reading!
