The City has been working with concerned residents, the Dept of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions and the Northern Valley Wildlife Service to consider the relocation of kangaroos.
The number of kangaroos currently inhabiting St Andrews Park in Yanchep has led to safety concerns as the population continues to out-grow open park space.
There have been reports of near-miss traffic incidents, private gardens being damaged by kangaroos foraging for food and water, and an increased risk to children, elderly people and dogs using the park.
The City has undertaken extensive work to develop a management plan for the kangaroos in St Andrew’s Park with the support of the Department of Biodiversity, Attractions and Conservation.
The City has engaged an experienced native fauna specialist to carry out the relocation of the kangaroos to a native bushland site that has ample food and water. A wildlife support team will be available and City rangers will be onsite throughout the relocation.
The relocation is expected to be complete by 1 July 2018.
