The City of Swan has awarded local organisations a total of $45,000 in funding.
Three awards of $15,000 have been approved to support a range of community activities.
These include a project to improve youth mental health, a cultural football program for Aboriginal youth and the world championships for radio controlled cars.
City of Swan Mayor David Lucas said that the Swan Community Funding Scheme aims to support initiatives that bring the community together and encourage social interaction, community participation and inclusion.
“The City is delighted to support projects that make such a difference to people living in our community,” he said.
“I think it’s exciting that we’re hosting the World Championships for radio controlled cars in our City. We look forward to welcoming around 6,000 visitors from across the globe to this event.”
Swan Districts Football Club has been awarded a $15,000 Swan Community Grant to support the important work they do through the Community Aboriginal Football Program.
Midland-based arts group DADAA received a $15,000 Swan Community Grant to support their Popup Arts project.
The City also announced $15,000 sponsorship for the Model Off Road Buggy Club. The Club is hosting the 2018 IFMAR (International Federation of Model Auto Racing) Nitro Off Road World Championships, to be held in Whiteman Park from November 1-10.
Altone Ward Councillor Andrew Kiely congratulated the City for identifying three organisations that will benefit considerably from the funding awards.
“These groups work tirelessly to support and encourage so many people and the City is to be commended for allocating this funding,” he said.
“The radio controlled car World Championships is a chance for everyone to find out more about this form of racing.”
