New Eureka Centre committee terms of reference endorsed
Ballarat (City) 14 Jun 2018

Ballarat City councillors voted on Wednesday night to endorse the new Eureka Centre Community Advisory Committee's terms of reference.

It follows the decision to transition the former Museum of Australian Democracy at Eureka (M.A.D.E) back under council management and to rename it the Eureka Centre.

The new committee will be skills-based, consisting of members who can provide a vital link between Council, the people of Ballarat, and the Eureka story.

The committee will also provide recommendations and advice on identification of Eureka-focused artefacts and displays and have input into the Eureka narrative for the centre.

The committee will also provide recommendations on how to increase the Ballarat community’s involvement with the Eureka Centre.

The Eureka Centre Community Advisory Committee will consist of up to 10 members; three with a proven understanding of the Eureka story, three community members, one member with an excellent knowledge of museums or interpretative centres, and up to three councillors.

An Expression of Interest in joining the committee will be available in the coming weeks.
