Incidents of fraud have been rapidly increasing with criminals finding ever more insidious ways to steal your information.
Technology plays a huge part in our day-to-day lives with shopping, renewing licences and lodging documents all online. Through these processes people hand over bank details, addresses, birth dates, full names and much more, providing a hunting ground for hackers.
They don’t just stop at online, with brazen thieves breaking into letter boxes and stealing identification documents.
We have never been more vulnerable to fraud as we are right now.
On 31 July 2018, in partnership with NSW Justice and NSW Police, Strathfield Council will be launching a new tool to raise awareness about fraud and provide information on how to keep your data safe.
Protect your ID, Protect U is a film created by Council and Why Documentaries to alert the ordinary consumer to the facts of identity theft while also providing guidance and strategies to avoid becoming a victim.
The full documentary will be available on the Strathfield Council website following the launch date.
