Two new playgrounds are set to be unveiled over the next week with an updated space at Wombarra’s Matron Dunster Reserve the first to be handed over to the community today, Friday 29 June.
The playground, in the park overlooking Wombarra Beach and rock pool, has replaced an ageing slide, swing and spring rocker.
Kids will love the new nest swing, carousel and climbing features.
Next week, the new playground in Fairy Meadow’s Pop Errington Park will be opened for playtime and Coledale’s St James Park is being wrapped up shortly – provided there is good weather.
The playgrounds are 3 of 15 to be upgraded in past 12 months. Other playgrounds that have been completed include:
Ray Crump Park, Primbee Geringulli Park, Horsley Harry Graham Park, Figtree Fred Finch Park, Berkeley Foy Avenue Reserve, Figtree Robinson Park, Gwynneville Orana Park, Unanderra Wetherill Park, Primbee Boyton Park, Corrimal Integral Energy Park, West Dapto Blaker Park, Tarrawanna King George V Shade Structure, Port KemblaThe works are linked to Council’s Play Wollongong Strategy which developed a vision for the city’s play spaces, and included a commitment that well maintained, high quality place spaces would be distributed across the local government area.
