Swing to the sound of the fantastic 40s at Mayor's Seniors Week

Gold Coast seniors can swing to the sounds of the fantastic 40s at the annual Mayor’s Seniors Week Concert, on Thursday 23 August at HOTA (Home of the Arts).

Mayor Tom Tate said this year’s show would feature swing, jive and glamour, with tributes to Marilyn Monroe, Judy Garland, The Andrew Sisters and Frank Sinatra.

“Every year, seniors tell me what a highlight this concert is and I’m sure this year’s entertainment will be just as memorable,” he said.

“Seniors Week is an important way to recognise how much our seniors have contributed to our local community ... it’s our way of saying thanks.”

With big band sounds, dazzling choreography and crooning vocals, the show will be staged three times at HOTA’s Paradise Room - 9.30am, 12pm and 2.30pm. Doors open 30 minutes prior.

The cast features artists who have appeared on the international stage including Michelle Barnes, Peter Murphy and Diana Holt.

The City also supports seniors with:

•           Council’s Cab Service ($4 return taxi fares between home and local shops)

•           library sessions specific to seniors like Tech Savvy Seniors and Mobile Device Basics

•           more than 150 low cost or free Active & Healthy classes including yoga and deep water running.
