The City of Swan has revealed the line-up for this year’s NAIDOC celebrations.
Celebrations begin next week, with a wide range of music, food and traditional entertainment. This year’s theme, “Because of her, we can”, acknowledges the achievements of Aboriginal women within their community, not just as community leaders but at a grass roots level as carers, family nurturers and community members.
City of Swan Mayor David Lucas encouraged the community to come out and attend one of the most important events in the City calendar.
“The City’s NAIDOC celebrations are an integral part of our community and it fills me with pride to be a part of this celebration of Aboriginal culture,” he said.
“This year’s theme is particularly important in recognising the central role of Aboriginal women in their community.
“I encourage all residents to come along to Midland Oval to enjoy the food, music and culture and help celebrate NAIDOC week.”
