Bayside City Council is making the switch to coinless ticket machines.
All paid car parking meters will no longer accept coins. Visa and Mastercard will be accepted.
The move towards coinless ticket machines will see a more reliable service with lower costs to Council. Cashless ticket machines will eliminate coin jams, cashbox errors and damaged ticket machines by vandals trying to access the coins held in the ticket machines.
Council is also investigating other payment methods, such as Pay by Mobile, which allows motorists to start and finish their parking sessions from their mobile phone and only pay for the time they use.
Cashless ticket machines will be rolled out during the first week of July.
