From Spring Flings and Indian Film Festivals to Arts Weeks, Italian Fiestas and Tastes of Mexico, the 2018-19 successful applicants represent some of the most diverse events Melbourne has to offer.
Chair of the Prosperous City portfolio, Councillor Kevin Louey, said 27 events have received funding under the latest round.
"Melbourne truly is Australia's events capital, with something happening across our great city throughout the year," Cr Louey said.
"Whether it's a celebration of our city's multiculturalism, an opportunity to engage with our amazing arts community or simply a chance to dine out on some of the best food in Melbourne, there's an event for everyone.
"We're incredibly proud of our reputation as the event's capital, with the City of Melbourne contributing more than $9 million in cash sponsorships to more than 500 events over more than 10 years through the Event Partnership Program.
"Now we're looking for the next wave of events which could use the City of Melbourne's support".
Applications can now be submitted for the next round of the Event Partnership Program, which is open to all events which help enhance the city's reputation and are held within the City of Melbourne municipality between 1 January and 30 June 2019. Sponsorship can include cash and/or in-kind support.
Eligible events must be free to attend or participate, have widespread appeal likely to attract significant crowds and be financially sustainable without support from the City of Melbourne.
An information session will be held in July to help potential applicants:
Tuesday 17 July 5-5.45pm at The Nat Bonacci Room, Council House Two, 240 Little Collins StMelbourne Art Foundation CEO and Director, Maree Di Pasquale, said the support of the City of Melbourne has enabled the Art Foundation to realise its ambitious program.
