On August 5, the City of Swan and Perth Airport’s Avon Descent Festival will return once again to Lilac Hill Park in Caversham, with our biggest program of family fun yet.
The festival will offer something for the whole family while boasting prime spectator views of the spectacular whitewater race.
City of Swan Mayor David Lucas said this year’s event is not to be missed.
“The City of Swan throws a wonderful all-ages celebration of Avon Descent every year, and 2018 is better than ever,” he said.
“There is a full program of onstage entertainment featuring Duncan Saige, The Lulus, Junkadelic and Zap Circus.
“Further, there’s a special edition of the Vintage Collective Markets, a community art installation by Mundaring Arts Centre, a cracking food truck line up, crowd favourite fair rides and inflatables, giant bubbles, drumming workshops, a massage tent, Swan Valley giveaways and much more.”
Swan Valley/Gidgegannup Ward Councillor Rod Henderson said the best part of the festival is its prime vantage point.
“Enjoy one of Perth’s best spots along the Swan River to cheer loud and proud as the Avon Descent competitors zoom past,” he said.
Free parking will be available opposite the park and a free shuttle bus will also run a return service to Guildford train station throughout the day. Festivities kick off at 10am and end at 3pm.
This free community event is presented by City of Swan and Perth Airport, and supported by Movida, Lotterywest, Midland Gate and Vintage Collective Markets.
