Kindergarten programs and Maternal and Child Health services in Romsey and Riddells Creek will be relocated during Term 3 while building upgrade works take place.
Romsey upgradeKindergarten programs will relocate to Romsey Primary School from 16 July for the duration of the works. The Maternal and Child Health (MCH) service relocated to the Romsey Community Hub in Main Street on 2 July.
The Victorian Government has provided $330,000 to refurbish the kindergarten, while Council has allocated an additional $110,000 for renovations to the Maternal and Child Health rooms within the building. The works will result in a contemporary and inclusive early education centre, including a new building entrance in a location designed to foster connection and partnership with the nearby Romsey Primary School.
Riddells Creek upgradeKindergarten programs will relocate to the Riddells Creek Community Centre from 6 August. The MCH service relocated to the Manna Gum Family and Children’s Centre in Gisborne on 14 May.
The Victorian Government has committed $211,500 to refurbish the kindergarten, while Council has provided a further $70,500 for renovation of the MCH centre and toy library area.
A new entrance foyer will improve connection between the co-located services, and provide a comfortable waiting area for families. Further improvements to the facility include a revitalisation of learning spaces, extension of the kindergarten veranda and upgraded amenities.
Director Community Wellbeing, Karen Stevens said it was necessary to relocate the services to ensure the safety of children and staff during the works.
“Residents may see traffic and parking changes around the sites during this time and we thank them for their understanding,” she said.
“Any changes will be temporary and Council will work to limit any disruption to residents and families.
“It’s important to remember that while these arrangements will be short-term, the works will benefit children and families both now and into the future.
“Thank you to current families who are affected by these changes for their patience and support.”
