Calling all Ballarat Bulldogs and their owners
Ballarat (City) 12 Jul 2018

To celebrate the return of AFL in Ballarat this month the City of Ballarat, in partnership with the Western Bulldogs, is bringing back the Bull-Doggie-Do.

Ballarat’s four-legged bulldogs, and their owners, are invited to Ballarat’s second Bull-Doggie-Do event on Sunday 22 July – a free event that showcases and celebrates bulldogs.

The Bull-Doggie-Do has a new home for 2018, this year taking place at the Bridge Mall from 11am.

This year’s Bull-Doggie-Do will feature a series of activities for the whole family, including your four-legged companions:

Ballarat is home to a high proportion of Bulldogs with more than 200 bulldogs/bulldog crosses registered with the City of Ballarat, including 64 American Bulldogs, 31 American Bulldogs Cross, 59 Australian Bulldogs, 22 British Bulldogs, 25 Bulldogs and six Bulldogs Cross.

The first Bull-Doggie-Do in 2017 was created based on an idea from brother and sister Daniel and Emily McLean, when they participated in the City of Ballarat’s Hackathon in 2016. During the Hackathon, Daniel and Emily discovered, from a combination of City of Ballarat and Western Bulldogs’ open data, that a large proportion of bulldogs were registered within the City of Ballarat. The duo then came up with the idea to hold a bulldog event in the lead up to the first AFL game in Ballarat.

The pair attended the first Bull-Doggie-Do which saw more than 60 bulldogs and their owners come together in celebration of bulldogs and the upcoming AFL match at Mars Stadium.

It’s this success which sees the return to the Bull-Doggie-Do in 2018 in the lead up to the 29 July AFL match at Mars Stadium.

Thousands of footy fans are expected to arrive at Mars Stadium on Sunday 29 July from 3.20pm to watch the Western Bulldogs and Port Adelaide clash.

Tickets are now on sale, and can be purchased online at ticketmaster.com.au

Tickets will also be available at Mars Stadium on game day, however fans are urged to purchase tickets online now to avoid disappointment.
