The City of Swan’s annual Hypervision art exhibition officially opened on July 6 along with an announcement of the overall winner, 15 year old Perth Modern School student Izabella Bird.
As well as overall winner, Izabella’s inspiring sculpture piece, Embodied Ideals, took out the top recognition for the sculpture category.
City of Swan Mayor David Lucas said the City’s exhibition received 148 submissions, an increase from last year’s 116 entries.
“Izabella was one of 83 finalists who were shortlisted to receive recognition for their creative pieces of work,” he said.
“Congratulations to Izabella for her fantastic achievement, and to all the other young artists from the City of Swan and greater Perth region for your inspiring pieces.”
This year’s theme, Home, encouraged artists to share what home meant to them and what their hopes are for their home – whether a physical place, a group of people or a state of mind.
City of Swan Councillor Adam Kovalevs said the City will run additional art activities alongside the exhibition.
“Throughout the school holidays and until August 3, art battles will be held on Thursday nights at Midland Gate Shopping Centre,” he said.
“The weekly art battles will wrap up with a grand finale at the HyperVision closing party at Midland Junction Art Centre on August 3, giving our local artists another opportunity to come together and celebrate their works.”
Hypervision will be exhibited until August 3 at Midland Junction Art Centre, 276 Great Eastern Hwy, Midland.
