Cabramatta Moon Festival - save the date

The Cabramatta Moon Festival is an iconic Sydney event, attracting more than 90,000 attendees each year.

Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said the Cabramatta Moon Festival, now in its 20th year, is one of Sydney's largest and brightest authentic South East Asian cultural celebrations.

“Cabramatta is home to Australia’s largest Vietnamese community. This festival is a celebration of the rich cultures that call this part of our City home,” Mayor Carbone said.

“Council has worked hard to create a family-friendly program full of fun and surprises that will make this year’s festival our greatest yet.

“I encourage everyone across Sydney to put this date in their diaries and come and experience the food, the entertainment and the friendly people that make Cabramatta such a vibrant place to visit and live.”

From 9am to 8pm, the streets of Cabramatta will come alive with a variety of fun, family friendly activities and culinary delights, centred around Freedom Plaza and its iconic Pailau gates. Stalls open from 9am, with entertainment from 11am.

This year’s exciting headline acts will be announced in the coming weeks. The crowd favourites will be returning, including the prawn peeling competition, children’s chopstick challenge and noodle and moon cake eating competitions.

There will also be the traditional lion dance to kick off the celebrations, community performances, market stalls, and the lantern parade led by the Moon Goddess. The celebrations will conclude with a colourful fireworks display.
