City of Canada Bay grants over $46,000 to community groups

The City of Canada Bay has announced the recipients of its 2018-19 Community Grants Program, an annual scheme providing funding for not-for-profit organisations.

“I am delighted to announce the recipients of this year’s Community Grants Program,” said City of Canada Bay Mayor Angelo Tsirekas.

“This year the program has seen $46,240 in grants distributed to 31 well-deserving groups in the community.”

The Community Grants Program is an annual project that provides financial support for groups and initiatives which benefit local residents.

The program provides funding up to $1000 to support existing operations, and funding up to $3000 to support the development of additional projects.

Among the recipients this year are Participate Australia, a sports club for intellectually disabled youth, the Shepard Centre which runs a social skills program for deaf and hearing impaired children, and VASA, a volunteer organisation which facilitates out of home excursions for housebound residents.

“Organisations like these are the lifeblood of our community and our grants program is a wonderful way for us to help them achieve their goals,” said Mayor Tsirekas.
