HomeNews Articles2018July 2018 Tidying up tip operating hoursIn response to the changing way residents are choosing to utilize regional waste management facilities across the region, Tamworth Regional Council will consider a proposal to optimise its waste management operations with streamlined opening hours at its meeting of 10 July 2018.
The proposed changes come following a recent operational review where inconsistencies across facilities and potential work, health and safety issues for staff, were identified.Mr Matt Hollis, Acting Manager Water and Waste, Tamworth Regional Council says to address these inconsistencies and potential issues, it is proposed opening hours across all facilities will be standardised.
“The proposed opening hours do not change the number of site openings, except for Somerton where an additional opening each Thursday is proposed to bring the Somerton site in-line with all other sites by having a week-day opening as well as a weekend opening.”
The new operating hours will involve a morning shift from 9 am to 12 noon and an afternoon shift from 1 pm to 4 pm. A table has been included below comparing current operating hours against proposed changes.
“The changes will see potential work, health and safety issues resolved, operational overtime reduced, and communication with the public about our waste management services, much easier,” Mr Hollis said.
Should Council agree to the proposed changes residents will be given six weeks-notice of the changes with an implementation date set for 1 September 2018. The Tamworth Regional Council waste management website will be updated to inform users of the changes and signage will also be installed at each site.
