Learn how our Community Grants program can help your project

Published on 20 July 2018

If you’re one of the numerous not-for-profit groups in our region that provide recreation opportunities for residents, assist people with disabilities or contribute to the health and wellbeing of the community, help is at hand with our next round of Community Grants.

Council’s Community Grants Program helps local not-for-profit organisations and clubs with grants of up to $6,000 to assist them in continuing to provide their programs in our community.

Applications for our latest round of Community Grants open early next month in the following areas:

Recreation Development (up to $1,000) Recreation Facilities Upgrade (up to $6,000) Environmental Project (up to $4,000) Community Project (up to $6,000)

An information evening explaining everything from how to apply through to which category would suit your project will be held on Wednesday 1 August at Council’s Deakin Avenue Committee Room starting at 5.30pm, with light refreshments provided.

This event will include opportunities to speak directly to Council staff that manage each of the specific grant areas.

Ouyen and Mallee Track residents can contact Council on (03) 5018 8100 to arrange an appointment to speak to a Grant Officer.

The Community Grants program helps local not-for-profit organisations and clubs achieve outcomes in line with the objectives of our Community and Council Plan 2017 – 2021, whilst improving outcomes for users of facilities and services provided by applicants.

Mildura Mayor Mark Eckel encouraged groups and individuals to come along to next month’s information evening.

“We have numerous groups and organisations in our region who volunteer their time, and often spend their own money, providing projects and initiatives that benefit our community,” Cr Eckel said.

“By partnering with these fantastic groups and individuals we can play a role in ensuring these valuable projects can continue, which ultimately benefits the broader community in a raft of different ways.”

Next month’s information evening will precede the opening of applications for grants on 6 August 2018. Applications will be accepted until 4pm on Monday 17 September.
