Starting a business will now be easier following Snowy Monaro Regional Council partnering with Service NSW to launch the Easy to do Business program.
Today, Snowy Monaro Regional Council Mayor John Rooney and General Manager Joe Vescio joined Deputy Premier and Member for Monaro John Barilaro, Council staff, and members of the local business community for the launch in Cooma’s CBD.
The Easy to do Business program will help entrepreneurs across the Snowy Monaro region fulfil their business dreams, and open their doors earlier.
The program targets entrepreneurs wishing to open a café, restaurant, or small bar.
“Council is committed to supporting local business success. Partnering with the Easy to do Business program provides Council with an opportunity to help local entrepreneurs,” Mayor Rooney said.
“The program is designed to ensure new businesses get off to a great start and I commend Service NSW on establishing this excellent program. I look forward to seeing the program grow in the future.“
Previously, businesses in the food and hospitality sector had to navigate complex regulations, multiple forms and contacts. The Easy to do Business program has streamlined the application processes via an online portal.
“With year-round tourism building across the Snowy Monaro region, now is the perfect time for local food businesses to take advantage of the streamlined process,” Deputy Premier and Member for Monaro John Barilaro said.
“The NSW Government is committed to making this State the easiest to start and grow a business in, and I’m delighted Snowy Monaro Regional Council is on board with our Easy to do Business initiative. It was great to join the local business community to launch this exciting program.
“Previously, to start up a café, restaurant or small bar, small businesses would have to deal with up to 13 agencies, 75 regulations, up to 30 phone numbers and complete 48 forms.
“Under Easy to do Business, the NSW Government has reduced this to one phone number and one online form.”
Easy to do Business will create new opportunities for businesses in the Snowy Monaro region. This is a free service for business owners offering specialised advice from a business concierge.
