Council welcomes Acting General Manager

Snowy Monaro Regional Council has announced Peter Bascomb as its Acting General Manager, following last Thursday’s Ordinary Council Meeting.
Councillors voted in favour of appointing the former Queanbeyan-Palerang Deputy General Manager to the role.
Mr Bascomb will officially start as Acting General Manager on Monday 6 August and will carry out the role until a new General Manager is formally appointed.
Snowy Monaro Regional Council Mayor, John Rooney, said he is looking forward to working with Mr Bascomb.
“This is an exciting appointment for our Council and the region. Mr Bascomb brings with him a wealth of local government experience and is a very skilled operator,” Mayor Rooney said.
“I would like to thank departing General Manager, Joe Vescio, who has left our Council in a strong position. His contribution to the region is much appreciated by Councillors, staff, and the community.
Mr Bascomb has extensive experience working in local government, particularly in regional areas. Mr Bascomb spent 11-years as the Palerang Council General Manager and three-years before that as Tumbarumba Shire Council General Manager.
“Mr Bascomb has the full support of this Council. He has significant leadership experience and will be a great asset for the Snowy Monaro,” Mayor Rooney said.
