Various organisations are the beneficiaries of Ipswich City Council’s monthly community and cultural funding programs.
Arts and Community Development Committee Chairperson Cr Kylie Stoneman said funds under the Community Development Grants Program had gone to:
1. Springfield Malayalee Association Inc: $2000 towards the cost of hosting the Onam harvest festival celebrations at Augusta State School, Augustine Heights, on 1 September. Onam is an opportunity to share Malayelee culture with the broader community.
2. Roderick Street Community Pre-School and Kindergarten Inc: $1000 towards the cost of 50th anniversary celebrations at the premises in Sadliers Crossing on 15 September. Activities for the celebrations will include face painting, animal encounter, music, and photo booth.
Cr Stoneman said the various events would benefit a large cross section of the community.
Council allocated $166,000 for the Community Development Grants Program for the 2018-19 year.
The program provides funding for purposes including community infrastructure, purchase of equipment, community development projects, and cultural occasions, festivals or events. For more information on how to apply, visit www.ipswich.qld.gov.au
