Magill Village

Campbelltown and Burnside Councils, in partnership with the University of SA are committed to improving the Magill Village area (as defined in the Magill Village Precinct Map) to improve recreation, social, shopping education and business experiences for local residents, workers and visitors to the area. 

A project to undertake capital works and economic development is underway. This will take several years to implement as it involves many components, significant funding and coordination, and agreement from numerous businesses, landowners and government officials.

One feature of the Magill Village Master Plan is the undergrounding of the power lines along Magill Road, with the first stage being from Windsor Avenue to St Bernards Road and the second stage continuing to Vine St .

Undergrounding of Power

The Councils received approval in December 2017 from the PLEC program (The Power Line Environment Committee) to the first stage.  PLEC will contribute two-thirds of the project cost, and the Councils combined will contribute the remaining one-third.  This initial portion of underground works will see $1.843 million funded by PLEC and approximately $922k to be split between the two Councils. 

Each Council has funds included in its Long Term Financial Plan to accommodate these costs, with the final approval of these budgets being subject to each Council’s adoption of their 2018/2019 Annual Business Plan and Budget.

Streetscape Renewal

Through an open market tender process, JPE Design Studio, an urban design practice based in Adelaide has been awarded the design contract to undertake the detailed design for the Magill Village streetscape renewal.

A Business Directory and Instagram site have been created to highlight the many and varied businesses in the area. Shop local and support the excellent range of opportunities available.
