The City of Swan's Hazelmere Hall has officially reopened after extensive renovations were unveiled on Saturday.
The $375,000 upgrade - which includes a new ceiling and internal walls, new furniture, and transformational renovations to the building's exterior - was supported by a $100,000 State Government contribution.
The reopening was officially marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony by City of Swan Mayor David Lucas, Cassie Rowe MLA, Member for Belmont and Hazelmere Progress Association president Les Marshall.
Mayor Lucas said it was great to finally reopen the facility to the community with a much-needed facelift.
“It is vital that our facilities are comfortable, useful, safe, accessible and meet the expectations of our community," he said.
“We now have a facility that is accessible to all members of the community; the interior has been completely refurbished, with a new ceiling and internal walls, air-conditioning, new furniture and all-access toilets.
"The exterior of the hall has been renovated, including a highly visible entry statement and clear signage in and around the building.
"We thank the McGowan Government for its generous contribution toward this upgrade."
Midland/Guildford Ward Councillor Ian Johnson said Hazelmere Hall is a great venue for small community functions.
“Hazelmere Hall was originally built in 1954 and was rebuilt in 1986; it has been a central meeting point for the local community for many years," he said.
“I am pleased that it is once again available to the community to use with some fantastic new improvements."
