Budget Highlights for 2018/19

The City of Armadale believes it has taken a practical and financially responsible approach in confining its 2018/19 Budget to a modest 1.8% increase. The Budget was adopted on 9 July, following months of careful consideration by the Council and its Executive Team.

The Budget has been developed with care to ensure we can manage the City’s projects and infrastructure in a manner which reflects the aspirations expressed by our community in the City’s Strategic Community Plan, said Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM, JP.

“This year the City has budgeted over $46.7 million for investment into asset creation and renewal, developing things such as community facilities, roads, paths and parks.”

This financial year will see the completion of several large scale projects the much awaited Armadale Aquatic Centre redevelopment ($26 million) and the Armadale District Hall ($4.9 million), the Champion Centre and Seville Grove Library are also scheduled to undergo upgrades.

The 2018/19 program of capital expenditure on infrastructure throughout the City includes the following examples:

Road renewal & Upgrades: Croyden Road $612,600, Harber Drive $209,900, Mandarin Way $$103,800, Banksia Road $115,500, Owen Road $159,000, Eighth Road $3 million, Balannup Road $3.5 million Pathways new & renewal: Blackwood Drive $50,000, Dale Road $67,200, Roberts Road $52,800 Piara Waters (SE) Playing Field & Car Park: $1.2 million

“As one of Western Australia’s fastest growing local government areas Council believes this modest increase delivers the best value at the lowest possible cost. We are committed to continued delivery of excellence in facilities, services and programs”, said Mayor Zelones.
