Bellingen Shire Council’s 10 Year Timber Bridge Renewal and Rehabilitation Program commenced in the 2017/18 financial year and it is progressing well. Last week saw another milestone achieved with the completion of Plains Bridge rehabilitation on Darkwood Road at Darkwood.
The restoration of the bridge structure has delivered a fully load compliant structure now capable of carrying all standard vehicle loads. This bridge restoration has removed another load limited bridge from the local road network.
The bridge restoration works were successfully undertaken by Council’s own Bridge Team resulting in a fully trafficable bridge a day earlier than scheduled.
Council would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge the patience and cooperation of residents living upstream of the Darkwood Road work site affected by the seven day temporary road closure during the bridge works.
