Whitsunday Regional Council has recently approved funding for a new lookout in Collinsville and a new footpath on Sonoma Street, Collinsville.

These projects will be delivered under the Queensland Government’s Works for Queensland program.

The lookout platform will be located off Miller Street opposite the water reservoirs, with an elevated view over the town and several dedicated car parks near the platform.

Division 4 Councillor Peter Ramage said the new lookout would give visitors and locals another way to explore the town.

“With the increase in grey nomads travelling to RV friendly Collinsville, the lookout is sure to be very popular with visitors and residents alike,” he said.

The new footpath will be installed on the eastern side of Sonoma Street, between Garrick Street and the roundabout.

“The new footpath on Sonoma Street would improve connectivity for residents, addressing the need for easier pedestrian access in the area,” said Cr Ramage.
