Whitsunday Regional Council will deliver the second stage of the Cannonvale Foreshore upgrade this year, along with extra improvements at Cannonvale Lakes on Parker Road.

Division 2 Councillor Ron Petterson said the second stage of the Foreshore upgrade will include additional seating and BBQ shelters to complete the Cannonvale Foreshore.

“The new Cannonvale Lakes playground on Parker Road was installed last year, and this year a car park, unisex toilet, half-basketball court and swing set will be added to the area,” he said.

“The upgrades are funded under the second round of the Queensland Government’s Works for Queensland program and recently approved by Council.

“The works would complete the second stage upgrades at the two parks and create some much-needed family facilities for the community.

“Cannonvale is one of our fastest growing areas, and it is important there are safe, free and fun playground options for young families,” he said.

“The Cannonvale Foreshore is proving popular as a space for locals to get away from the tourist crowds, and these works will further enhance the beach and foreshore.”

Community consultation was held last year before the first stages began, and the feedback received from residents was incorporated into the planning.
