Father’s Day at NMRM

The National Motor Racing Museum will celebrate Father's Day this year on Sunday, September 2.

It also marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the museum by the Bathurst Light Car Club in 1988. Free entry to the museum will be provided to fathers and anyone born in 1988. Other activities on the day will include the rides in the replica cars, sausage sizzle, car/bike and other displays. Visit www.nmrm.com.au for more information.

Get Building Bathurst in time for Father’s Day

Graham Lupp’s publication Building Bathurst is the definitive architectural history of the built heritage of Bathurst. The two volume publication is a celebration of the lives of the architects, builders, carpenters, brickmakers, ‘mechanics’ and artisans responsible for Bathurst’s reputation as a “red brick town” in its first century. Building Bathurst records the history of Bathurst’s 19th and early 20th century buildings. To secure a copy of this publication, contact Council on 6333 6111. Bluntside Skateboarding Series

The Youth Council is partnering with Bluntside Sk8 Park Tours and the Australian Skateboarding Federation to hold the inaugural Bluntside Skatepark Series.

Venue: Bathurst Skatepark, Lions Club Drive Date: Sunday 16 September 2018 Time: 10:00am to 2:00pm The event will feature skateboarding, scooters and BMX. In the leadup to the event, skills sessions will be held on Sunday 26 August and Sunday 2 September from 11:00am until 2:00pm. A free barbecue is available and there are some great prizes on offer. NMRM Legendary Moments Dinner

Tickets for the National Motor Racing Museum 'Legendary Moments' Dinner are now available. Enjoy a two course meal while listening to stories from Mark Winterbottom and other Legends of the Great Race. Take in the spectacular views of Mount Panorama from Rydges' top level as the Legends take you on a drive down memory lane, reliving their most memorable moments on Mount Panorama.

Book Week

Beloved children’s character, Olivia the Pig, will visit the library during Book Week. The library in conjunction with BooksPlus will hold story time sessions from 22-24 August. Olivia will visit each session to say hello and pose for photos.

Access Improvement for Small Business Grants

Grants are available to assist local small businesses and non-profit organisations improve access and inclusion to their place of business/organisation.

Businesses and non-profit organisations within the Bathurst region may apply for funding of either 50% of project costs, or up to a maximum of $5,000 on a dollar for dollar basis.

Council is currently reviewing the development controls relating to:

· Requirements for LED street lighting

· Two-storey dwellings

· Fire system requirements for certain developments

· Pre-development application meetings for certain developments within the Heritage Conservation Area

Finance - Investment of Surplus Funds Policy

Council has reviewed its investment policy to ensure Council continues to maximise investment income and preserve capital to assist with funding requirements for projects identified in the Bathurst 2040 Community Strategic Plan.

Finance - Borrowing Policy

Council has developed a borrowing policy. The policy provides a framework for Council to borrow funds while ensuring ongoing viability by now allowing overall borrowings to extend Council beyond its ability to meet future repayments and budgetary obligations.
