Bowen park and footpath upgrades planned

Whitsunday Regional Council has approved funding for further upgrades in Bowen, including a new shared path along Hay Street and exciting park upgrades at Gideon Pott Park and Rose Bay.
The upgrades are funded under the second round of the Queensland Government’s Works for Queensland program, and expected to commence later this year.
Bowen will be receiving a new 2.5m-wide shared path on Hay Street, between Santa Barbara Parade and Powell Road, which will provide easy access for both pedestrians and cyclists.
Gideon Pott Park in Queens Beach will receive new shelters and BBQs, a rope climbing playground, and new fencing around existing playground equipment.
Rose Bay Park will be receiving a new shelter, BBQ and seating to provide more shade for residents and visitors.
Division 5 Councillor Dave Clark said the works would greatly benefit the residents of Bowen, creating even more opportunities for enjoying the outdoors.
“This extra funding allows us to really improve our park equipment and recreational infrastructure,” he said.
Division 6 Councillor Mike Brunker said the upgrades would provide better community facilities for Bowen residents and visitors.
“Not only will these works deliver a higher quality experience but also stimulates the local economy by providing jobs to local businesses.” he said.
