The City of Fremantle is calling on Hilton residents to have their say on the $75,000 upgrade of Grigg Park.
The park’s combination play unit, basketball hoops and backboards need replacing, with the City also looking at how it can improve the surrounding areas of the park.
City of Fremantle Senior Landscape Architect Jennifer Cooper said the current playground was in need of an upgrade.
“It’s one of the oldest playgrounds in the city, so the upgrades are both a safety and age consideration,” she said.
The City wants to hear from the community about the activities they would like to do at the park, the facilities required and preference on the style of replacement play equipment.
Residents can share their ideas online through My Say Freo or at the on-site Grigg Park drop-in session on Saturday 25 August between 1:30pm and 3pm.
“The park is a fantastic asset to the community, all of whom are very passionate about it so we hope to get a lot of fantastic ideas from the community to let us know what they want to see in Grigg Park,” Ms Cooper said.
The community feedback phase will be open until Sunday 2 September, with the City expected to start works on the upgrades in February next year.
Grigg Park was first developed during the original subdivision of Hilton Park in the 1950s and continues to be well-used by the community today.
