Fruit Fly management workshops

Eurobodalla land holders will have the opportunity this week to learn about fruit fly management.

Ecologist and research scientist Dr Olivia Reynolds from NSW Department of Primary Industries will provide insights on fruit fly biology, ecology and management of the Queensland fruit fly at four workshops in the Eurobodalla and Bega Valley. Dr Reynold’s research focuses on sustainable, low environmental impact forms of insect pest management.

Fruit flies are a significant threat to horticulture, both commercial and hobby. They can have major impacts on Australia's capacity to trade competitively in international markets.

Workshops will be held on Wednesday 22 August at Moruya United Church Hall from 10.30am to 12pm and later that day at the Cobargo CWA rooms from 6.30pm. On Thursday August 23, the sessions will be held at Brogo Fire Shed from 9am to 10.30am, and at the Landcare office in Bega from 12.15pm to 1.45pm.

Hosted the South East Local Land Services, the workshops are also supported by SAGE and South East Producers.
