Paynesville’s foreshore has a new addition, with a boat launch for small boats constructed next to the Esplanade Boat Ramp.
Located in the town’s centre, this area is a popular location for launching small vessels such as kayaks, sailing dinghies and sailboards as it has a sandy foreshore and car parking nearby.
The East Gippsland Shire Council project was completed by Krammes Mini Earthmoving and cost $27,000, funded by a grant from Transport for Victoria’s Transport Investing in the Region program.
The 20-metre long ramp has been built on the same angle as the existing lakebed. It is a shallow ramp that is only suitable for small, light vessels and vehicles.
Line marking has been completed in the area to identify each lane of the adjacent dual-lane boat ramp and the separate lane for the small boat launch.
The need for a small boat launch had been identified by residents during consultation for the Paynesville Foreshore Management Plan.
