Council finds fusion with FUSED Festival

20 August 2018

Ipswich City Council will provide $15,000 funding for the FUSED Celebrate the Arts, Ipswich Festival on 8-9 September 2018.

Arts and Community Development Committee Chairperson Cr Kylie Stoneman said FUSED provides an opportunity for local artists and their art to gain recognition and connect with a wider audience.

“The FUSED Festival, which is coordinated by a passionate and dedicated community-based arts committee, was established in 2017 to deliver an annual festival that celebrates the Ipswich arts community,” she said.

“The inaugural festival was a wonderful success. In 2018, the fabulous FUSED committee will again bring the arts to the forefront of the community’s imagination.”

Cr Stoneman said council would continue to work closely with the FUSED committee.

“There is a commitment to again deliver a collaborative program of arts events and activities involving local Ipswich arts groups,” she said.

Cr Stoneman said the FUSED committee planned to hold the next festival over 8-9 September and to coordinate with other events that weekend including the “Kitsch in the Swich”, the Ipswich Piping and Drumming Solo Championships, Blackstone-Ipswich Cambrian Choir’s theatre restaurant and “Jazz by Firewire” at Studio 188.

“FUSED is a fantastic event for the City of Ipswich that highlights the breadth and talent of our arts community,” she said.
