Eurobodalla Council is looking to recruit more Family Day Care educators to meet increasing demand.
Family Day Care provides quality education and care for children in the homes of approved educators. Educators run their own business from home, have flexibility in working hours and days and can look after their own children while working for themselves.
Council’s Coordinator Children’s Services Louise Hatton said anyone could become an educator with the right training and qualifications.
“Childcare workers with degree or diploma, primary school teachers, secondary school teachers, admin workers with interest in child care or just people wanting to change career into childcare can all be Family Day Care educators,” she said.
“Educators can have four children under school age and seven children in total aged 0-12years, including their own children, and educational programs can be tailored to their needs and interests.
“Council’s children’s services team can support and guide interested community members to become qualified and comply with the relevant regulations and standards.”
Eurobodalla Family Day Care has been established since the 1990s and provides more than 200 families with early education and care in the home of qualified professional educators.
Ms Hatton said there had been an increase in enquiries for care across Eurobodalla, which had led to a need to engage more educators in Narooma, Moruya and Batemans Bay.
“Family Day Care is a unique opportunity for people to develop their own educational service while building long-lasting bonds with children and families,” Ms Hatton said.
“If you’re interested in starting a career as an educator why not give us a call and see if it’s for you.”
