Free skate clinics back for spring/summer season
City of Armadale 21 Aug 2018

The City of Armadale's free skate clinics return next week providing local young people the opportunity to test their skills, and learn new ones, weeknights and weekends this spring and summer.

Skateboarding WA presents the popular workshops, games, competitions and coaching sessions at several of the City’s skate parks, providing young people with an opportunity to learn new skills, be active and have fun in an alcohol and drug-free environment.

This year clinics will be split into beginner and intermediate categories with a competition in January.

“It’s a great opportunity for young skate enthusiasts to get some helpful tips from the professionals and further develop their skills,” said Armadale Mayor Henry Zelones OAM JP.

“Participants get the opportunity to get active, meet other young people with similar interests, and participate in the community,” he said.

The free skate clinics are suitable for all skill levels and skateboards and helmets are provided.

The first clinic will be a great opportunity for skate enthusiasts to fine-tune their skills, ahead of the King of the Hill skate and scooter competition, which returns to Roleystone Skate Park on 27 September.

Upcoming session times and locations listed below: Saturday 1 September, 1 – 3pm, Skate clinic at Roleystone Skate Park. Saturday 20 October, 9 – 11am, Skate clinic at Forrestdale Skate Park. Saturday 3 November, 1 – 3pm, Intermediate skate clinic/jam at Roleystone Skate Park. Thursday 6 December, 5 – 7pm, Intermediate skate clinic/jam, YAA Armadale Skate Park.

2019 session dates will be announced later in the year on the City's Facebook and website: www.armadale.wa.gov.au/skate-parks-clinics-and-comps.
