Craig Reucassel to award local green heroes
ABC TV’s War on Waste host Craig Reucassel will be on hand next Monday at a Gala dinner in Rhodes to present the City of Canada Bay’s Sustainability Awards.
The awards, held every two years, celebrate individuals, groups and businesses that show innovation and commitment to creating a smarter and greener community. Nominees range from a popular Inner West craft brewery to a local museum.
“The best thing about the War on Waste has been finding out the amazing initiatives that locals have started up in their area,” Reucassel said. “I love going to Awards like these because it lets me find out clever new local initiatives in sustainability.”
“It’s great seeing local taking action, because getting movement at the Federal level can be like watching grass grow, in a drought.”
City of Canada Bay Mayor Angelo Tsirekas said he couldn’t wait to recognise local champions who have achieved excellence in the fields of environmental, economic or social sustainability in the City of Canada Bay.
“This year’s theme for the awards is ‘Smart Cities’.” Mayor Tsierkas said.
“We’ll be celebrating groups and individuals who are using smart technology, smart investment and smart communication and policy to create a more sustainable and flourishing community.”
Winners will be announced at the awards night dinner held next Monday, August 27 at Rhodes Phoenix Restaurant. Tickets to the event are still available, to purchase or for more information contact [email protected].
