Call for 2019 Australia Day Awards nominations

Celebrate Ballarat’s outstanding achievers – nominate them for the 2019 City of Ballarat Australia Day Awards. 

Do you know a community-minded person, an outstanding young person, or a fantastic community activity you would like officially recognised for its positive contribution to the Ballarat community? 

Nominations for the Awards are now open and will close on Friday 16 November, 2018. 

The prestigious annual Australia Day Awards are now open in three categories: 

Ballarat Citizen of the Year  Ballarat Young Citizen of the Year  Community Activity of the Year. 

Nominees for the Citizen of the Year must be 25 years or older on 26 January 2019, while nominees for the Young Citizen of the Year must be under 25 years of age on 26 January 2019. 

The Community Activity of the Year Award is presented to the group or person who has staged the most outstanding community activity, either small or large, between 30 October 2016 and 29 October 2018. 

Achievements of past winners include: 

Community work through service organisations, such as Rotary Club, Apex and Lions Club  Membership in Youth Council and other youth-focussed groups  Organising community events for particular sectors of the Ballarat community  Raising funds for charities and not-for-profit organisations  Working with elderly members of the community  Activities to improve health outcomes or engage the community. 

The Australia Day Awards, provided by the Australia Day Committee (Victoria), are administered by Local Government Authorities throughout Australia, on behalf of each council. 

The Awards will be presented at an official presentation and citizenship ceremony on Australia Day 2019.
