Whether it is to purchase items as simple as tables and chairs or to develop a youth awareness programme, the latest round of Livingstone Community Grants is almost open for local community groups apply!
The Livingstone Community Grants programme, proudly sponsored by Livingstone Shire Council, Keppel Bay Sailing Club and Inverness Yeppoon, provides funding to community groups and sporting clubs to deliver innovative projects and programmes which respond to local community needs.
Community Development and Support Councillor Jan Kelly said the current round, opening on Monday 27 August, will provide up to $2,000 to successful applicants, for not-for-profit community groups and sporting clubs.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for local community groups and clubs with a project they would like to get off the ground but may not have the available funds to do so,” Cr Kelly said.
“Applicants must meet the eligibility criteria and be operating within the Livingstone Shire Council's Local Government Area, providing programmes, outcomes or activities which benefit residents, and improve overall community well-being.”
From August 2018, Livingstone Community Grants will be administered through the Smarty Grants software program, which accepts online applications only.
Smarty Grants is an online grants management system which is widely used for grants distribution by Local Governments and State Governments throughout Australia. This ensures that grants are distributed with the highest level of transparency and accountability.
Cr Kelly said free Smart Grants information sessions will be held next week to assist groups in using the new system to submit the best application possible.
“Groups are invited to attend the Livingstone Community Grants Information Sessions to be held on Monday, 27 August from 5.30pm to 7pm at the Community Education Room in the ‘The Hub’ Beaman Park, Yeppoon. Or on Friday 31 August from 5.30pm to 7pm at Emu Park Cultural Hall,” Cr Kelly said.
