Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller has welcomed the release of the First Stage of the Land Use Plan for Western Sydney Aerotropolis.
The 11,200 hectare Western Sydney Aerotropolis Core will be Greater Sydney’s newest economic hub and the NSW Government is seeking feedback on the initial stages of planning.
“Planning for Western Sydney Airport and the Aerotropolis are critical for the future of Liverpool; the Aerotropolis will create thousands of new jobs, new industries and new learning centres,” Liverpool Mayor Wendy Waller said.
“This is a great opportunity for the community to have their say.
“It’s important that all levels of government get this right, so Council will carefully review the plan and make its own submission.”
The site has been divided up into a number of precincts – the Aerotropolis Core, the Northern Gateway and South Creek – which will be the focus of the initial precinct planning.
The Aerotropolis Core will offer defence and aerospace jobs connected to a potential new Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematic (STEM) based university, a planned Aerospace Institute and a new public high school focused on the aerospace and aviation industries.
The Northern Gateway will focus on education and research and development associated with food production and processing, while South Creek will connect pedestrian and cycle paths with community facilities, restaurants and cafes.
Mayor Waller encouraged residents and businesses to attend the community engagement sessions which will be delivered by the NSW Department of Planning and Environment at Bringelly Community Centre.
The sessions will be held on Thursday, 6 September from 4pm-7pm, Monday, 10 September from 4pm-7pm and Saturday, 15 September from 10am-1pm.
“These sessions are a good opportunity for the people of Liverpool to have their say on the planning for our future. The Aerotropolis must meet the needs of the people who will be living and working in the area,” Mayor Waller said.
