Balonne Shire dog owners have until the end of this week to register their dogs or face a fine.
Council sent notices out last month and is offering dog owners a 50 per cent discount on registrations until Friday, 31 August.
Chief Executive Officer Matthew Magin said the discount was an incentive for dog owners to register their animals.
“At this point in time we have received payments for less than 50 per cent of the animals currently registered and I urge owners to make payment by the end of this week to ensure they don’t face a fine for an unregistered animal,” he said.
“Our team will be out in force after the closure date to check registrations, so please act now and save yourself the unnecessary financial burden.”
Dog registrations can be paid by visiting Council offices or by calling Council on 4620 8888 and paying with a credit card.
The discount period closes at 5pm Friday, 31 August 2018.
