Seawall on schedule Monday 27 August

East Gippsland Shire Council’s seawall replacement program is on schedule.

Installation of screw piles for the boardwalk on the Esplanade between the Lakes Entrance Coast Guard building and Bank Jetty started last Tuesday (August 21) and are expected to be completed early next week. The driving of piles for the seawall is expected to start next week.

The existing 216-metre bluestone seawall is being replaced with precast concrete panels. The bluestone will be stored by Council and repurposed in future Lakes Entrance projects.

Council’s contractor, local firm AlbCon, today closed the carpark at Bank Jetty. It will remain closed for the duration of the project.

The Victorian Government is contributing $1.3 million to the seawall replacement project under its Coastal Protection Infrastructure Upgrade Program, with Council contributing $452,000.
