Dr. Frisco will perform at the Battle of the Bands Regional Finals later this year after winning the Battle of the Bands Macedon Ranges heat at the weekend.

Dr. Frisco, an indie rock band whose members are all local secondary school students, took to the stage at Kyneton Town Hall on Saturday 25 August and performed in front of about 150 people.

The competition showcased a diverse range of artists and genres, with performances from Sam Tucker, Tim Allen, Lana Hughes, Lucy Ramshaw and last year’s Macedon Ranges heat winners, Lazerlips.

Crane took out second place. The judges’ award went to Jasper Leach.

Mayor, Cr Jennifer Anderson said the event was a great experience for young people in the shire.

“Battle of the Bands is a fantastic way for local bands and performers to get their music out to a wider audience,” she said.

“Providing opportunities for young people to express themselves, connect socially, and be part of a thriving artistic community is one of Council’s key priorities, and it’s great to see so many young people turning up on Saturday night to cheer and lend their support.

“Congratulations to all the 2018 Battle of the Band finalists, and Dr. Frisco for their winning performance. We wish them the best of luck in the forthcoming regional finals, which will take place in the Macedon Ranges.”
